I am looking to give 75% of my time to support Healing Nations in reaching families in physical and spiritual need. Specifically, in their Compassion Ministry that is focused on poverty relief very similar to the Mercy in Action ministry I served with for many years. Also, managing logistics for short term service teams, maintenance on the grounds of their medical outreach clinic, and logistics for their ministry in general.
I see the biggest spiritual impact during medical clinics, since there is an evangelistic component.
A testimony that stands out is one family in particular who received a stove through Mercy in Action. It was just a stove, but the woman we built it for was so thankful she was moved to tears with gratitude to God for providing what she could not afford. I’ll never forget that moment. That impacted her life so much she started going to church, and eventually joined and became involved in serving.
At the schools, I felt the most connection with the students when I went to drop off food and supplies. Alongside the teasing, there was an unspoken bond that caused them to jump in and help. I enjoy walking alongside and leading by example.
Connection with short term mission team members is also very important to me. What started as a working relationship, became friendship and grew into a close brotherhood. We offer each other spiritual support 2-ways.
