Gerber Perez

My name is Gerber Pérez. I was born and raised in Guatemala, in a Kaqchikel-speaking family. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of sitting beneath my mother’s loom, watching her weave colorful threads into traditional textiles.

I didn’t realize it then, but those moments would eventually shape the way I understand community. Each thread has its own place, yet it is through their connection that something beautiful and strong begins to emerge. I believe the same is true of people.

For more than 15 years, I have worked alongside communities, churches, and international partners to create opportunities for meaningful and lasting change. I hold a master’s degree in Community Development, and my Christian faith continues to inspire my commitment to serving others with compassion, dignity, and love.

Throughout my ministry, I have worked alongside local communities, churches, and international partners on projects involving clean water, sanitation, housing, healthcare, and community development.

These experiences have taught me that meaningful development is not simply about building structures or providing resources. It is about listening, building trust, recognizing local strengths, and bringing people together around a shared purpose.

Today, I continue this work as Executive Director of Tejiendo Comunidad Guatemala (Weaving Community), connecting local communities with churches and individuals who share my passion for serving others. I enjoy bringing people together, building meaningful relationships, and creating opportunities to work side by side on projects that make a lasting difference.

I welcome the opportunity to partner with churches, individuals, and organizations interested in supporting community projects or bringing mission teams to Guatemala. I believe some of the most meaningful things we accomplish begin with a simple relationship and a shared desire to serve.

No thread stands alone. Together, we weave community.
