Wallner is a Costa Rican missionary working in the Pacific region of his country. He grew up in a place called El Cocal in Quepos, a community that people often say nothing good comes from.
This community has been marked by multiple social challenges such as poverty, violence, and drug use and trafficking. When Wallner was still a child, his father fell into addiction, and his older brother began selling drugs from their home.
Despite the chaos around him, Wallner remembers going outside at night, looking at the stars, and asking, “Why am I here? What is my purpose?”
Six years ago, he was invited to a dinner where he met Diego, his disciple-maker, along with many people who made him feel loved and safe.
Currently, Wallner volunteers with Young Life, a nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for teenagers to meet Christ and follow Him. Through games, music, camps, and various activities, Young Life reaches out to youth and connects them with Bible studies, discipleship, and leadership development. He also supports his pastor and disciple-maker, Diego Zúñiga, in his Home Church ministry, putting his gifts into action.
Wallner serves as a coordinator, where he has led multiple activities and events to make an impact in local neighborhoods. His main goal is to make disciples. He spends a lot of time with young people, opening his life to them and modeling a Christ-centered way of living.
Now Wallner understands his purpose: to go into every community and neighborhood so that young people have the opportunity to know Jesus in a meaningful and engaging way, through a lifestyle rooted in truth.
Wallner is currently studying to become an English teacher so he can connect with more young people and show them the love that comes from Jesus. He is always looking for ways to remain aligned with where God has placed him and to stay grounded in the purpose God has given him, so he can continue impacting more lives and reaching young people who feel alone.
You can be part of his team by supporting this work and allowing him to dedicate more of his time to full-time ministry, making disciples.
