Heart & Hope is a ministry founded in Guatemala in May 2023, with a commitment to walking alongside vulnerable children and families in Santo Domingo Xenacoj. Many of the families we serve are led by single mothers who have experienced the difficult consequences of divorce, often in the context of their partners’ struggles with alcohol abuse.

These circumstances can place significant emotional and financial pressure on families, affecting their well-being and, in many cases, leaving mothers without a stable source of household income.

Through each of our programs, we seek to create a safe and supportive environment where children and mothers can rebuild their confidence, strengthen their faith in God, and discover hope for the future. We walk with them as they navigate the challenges at home, encouraging them to remain engaged in their education and to consider possibilities for their future within their communities.

Counseling
Provide a safe space, where they can express their feelings and talk about different topics that occur within the family environment.

Educational Talks for children and parents
Help the families to face different situations in the family environment, teaching them ways to validate their emotions, how to act or express themselves correctly, guiding them towards a relationship with God.

Bible Study
Giving hope through the love of Jesus.

Soccer Academy
Provide the children a recreational and a safety space, where they can learn about it teamwork, values, responsibility, commitment and to serve the community.

Outreach community
We serve the community through different activities and outreach programs. We support the families who are part of the ministry, as well as other members of the community, by providing food and other basic necessities when needed.

I have also been involving the soccer group in our outreach efforts by teaching them about the importance of loving and serving others.

House of Hope
At House of Hope, we encourage mothers and tutors to develop financial independence by launching and managing small family businesses, including our chicken coop project. The goal is to help families build sustainable sources of income that contribute to the local economy while also providing nutritious food for their families.

In addition to helping families develop these businesses, we provide financial support to mothers when needed. This support helps ensure that their children can continue their education without having to leave school to work and help support their families. By investing in both the mothers and their children, we seek to strengthen families, create opportunities for a better future, and help break the cycle of poverty.
